The AFL has fined the Sydney Swans $50,000 for Sunday's 19th player on the field in the closing stages of the controversial draw against the Kangaroos.
Kangaroos' President James Brayshaw sought an explanation from the league as to why his team weren't awarded the two extra Premiership points for the indisgression.
"We have written to the (Kangaroos) and explained the key basis of why we decided to go down the track of a financial sanction, so it’s not right to say we haven’t provided any reasons and I’m certain happy to elaborate on those with the club," AFL Football Operations manager Adrian Anderson said on SEN radio.
"There was about a minute and a half left on the clock so it’s impossible to say; a whole range of things can happen in an extra minute and a half of football.
"The player who came onto the ground, first-gamer Jesse White, was on for 35 seconds, he didn’t go anywhere near the ball; he was in fact well away from where the play was taking place.
“Both the Kangaroos and Swans acknowledge that the mistake was inadvertent and they tried to get a player off as soon as they could afterwards. They did try to call back Jesse White and they tried to get off another player … Darren Jolly was the first option."
The AFL has now put all clubs on notice for the remainder of the season.
