Sem-Final 1 Preview: St. Kilda vs Collingwood
September 11th 2008 09:38
Who could forget the last time these two teams clashed earlier this season!
St. Kilda had heard that club legend Robert Harvey was not going to be wearing the famous No. 35 next year, and the Pies had gone through the Alan Didak-Heath Shaw drink-driving incident.
But it was Collingwood who looked the more impressive of the two sides, and it showed when they took away the four points.
Last week, the Pies were not expected to defeat Adelaide at AAMI Stadium - and with so many players out due to injury. But wearing the black and white guernsey brought something out of the young Maggies to see them through to this point.
Not much has been made of defender Simon Prestigiacomo's shoulder injury against the Crows, with the focus instead lying on Travis Cloke and Scott Burns, and whether the duo will play.
For the Saints, it was a day to forget against Geelong last week. The Cats shut down St. Kilda's forward line of Nick Riewoldt, Justin Koschitzke and Stephen Milne, and made them look silly. Only Lenny Hayes and Sam Fisher played well, and coach ROss Lyon expects a rather big improvement this week.
For the winner, a match against Hawthorn awaits. For the loser, Mad Monday can begin. Will the Saints go out in straight sets, or will the Pies falter?
