Hawthorn's Cyril Rioli has won a a nomination for the National Australia Bank AFL Rising Star Award after his performance against Richmond on the weekend.
Rioli scored two goals - one which looks like being a serious contender for goal of the year - in his side's 12-point vitory over the Tigers, also amassing 19 possessions.
The Rising Star Nominee says that he wasn't even thinking about this type of recognition when he first started playing, but just about getting a match for the yellow and gold.
“Coming into the season I didn’t even think I was going to get a game and now it’s all happening,” Rioli told AFL.com.
“It’s good being one of the favourites (for the NAB AFL Rising Star Award).
“I just like my footy so it doesn’t really matter to me. I’ll just keep it in the back of my mind.”
Hawthorn plays Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday afternoon. Match starts at 2:10 AEST.
