Round 22 Preview: Port Adelaide vs North Melbourne
August 29th 2008 01:10
The equation is simple for Kangaroos' supporters and officials: defeat Port Adelaide and fourth place is secured, which will result in playing Geelong again for the second time in three weeks.
Lose - hoping that Collingwood doesn't win - will still see you play Geelong; and lose and see the Magpies get up, will put you in at least fifth position depending on results over the remainder of the weekend.
It really is that simple.
Shannon Grant announced his retirement from football this week, after 12 seasons at the Kangaroos. He played against the Roos for Sydney in the 1996 Grand Final, but was traded for Wayne Schwass the following year. He has been a stalwart of the club, and will be sorely missed in 2009.
Can North send him out on high before the business-end of the season commences?
Port want to see the back of their worst-ever season, and are in preparation-mode for 2009 already. Having sent many of its players to have surgery, Port's line-up has been filled with youngsters.
Having had a win - against last-placed Melbourne last week - boosted the team's confidence and desire to end 2008 on a high. Can they repeat it again?
