Round 22 Preview: Fremantle vs Collingwood
August 29th 2008 00:52
The end of the home and away season begins with this clash tonight when lowly-place Fremantle take on finals bound Collingwood at Subiaco Oval.
Paul Medhurst will be returning to his former home ground, and is expected to receive a similar fate to that of former West Coast Eagle-now Carlton Blue, Chris Judd.
Collingwood goes into this match brimming with confidence after it defeated Sydney by eight goals last week. The Magpies kicked eight majors in the first term, and never really looked troubled from that point on.
And having won three in a row will surely set them in good stead come finals time. Scott Burns will me missing from the line-up, as his calf injury has reared its ugly head once again this season. He missed four weeks earlier on with it, and the injury has flared up again.
The Dockers have not been playing bad football all season, but have fallen over at the last hurdle on many occasions. The team missed captain Matthew Pavlich last week against Richmond with a foot complaint, and looks likely to miss once again.
How will Freo close out the season - with a victory to give their supporters some hope going into 2009, or with a defeat, boosting Collingwood's chances of a top-four finish?
