Round 22 Preview: Carlton vs Hawthorn
August 29th 2008 02:06
This match will be about which player can kick their 100th goal for the season first. Will it be Lance Franklin, who sits two goals away from the figure, or will it be Brendan Fevola, who is eight away from the magical mark.
Both teams know where they sit on the ladder, and cannot improve upon their position.
Having defeated Brisbane at home last week, Carlton fans still believed their team had a slim chance of making the finals, but the door was shut by St. Kilda knocking off Adelaide the following day.
Hawthorn looked impressive without Luke Hodge against West Coast at home, and will want to replicate that same form they showed last week.
Carlton have improved significantly in 2008, challenging for a finals spot after three years glued to the bottom of the ladder. Can they send their supporters off with more hope going into 2009?
