Round 21 Preview: Richmond vs Fremantle
August 21st 2008 08:15
Richmond are holding on to the extremely slim hope that they can see some finals action in 2008. Currently out of the eight by six points, the Tigers need all the teams above them to lose, and for them to have a favourable run home.
No one expected them to defeat their much-fancied opponents in Hawthorn last week, but they did it in such a way that suggests they want to play some footy during the business-end of the season.
Freo have been more down than up this season. Even though they might be sitting in the bottom four, they have had lost many close matches - particularly in the last quarter.
Last week, they got thumped at home by an impressive St. Kilda side, who did come to Perth to play unlike their last trip across the Nullabor.
Matthew Pavlic is still their key player, and will be looked toward for inspiration.
With yet another Docker retiring at the end of the season, it takes the tally to five. Mark Johnson and Josh Carr join Peter Bell, Heath Black and Shaun McManus on the list.
Can Richmond win and keep their slim chances of making the eight alive?
