Round 21 Preview: Geelong vs North Melbourne
August 22nd 2008 01:45
Some experts are claiming this match to be the Grand Final preview, with the unstoppable Cats playing the in-form Kangaroos, who are on a six-game winning streak.
North want to secure fourth position and the double-chance, but the downside is that it will have to play Geelong again in two weeks.
The only team that remotely looks like defeating the almighty Cats is North, and if they can do so this weekend, will mean that the rest of the competition has a slim hope of walking away with the Premiership at the end of the year.
But they will have to keep a determined Gary Ablett very quiet, and after his performance last week against Sydney, he will be a tough ask. Cameron Mooney was also in fine form against the Swans, and will want to put on a good performance against his old side.
Brent Harvey will be as important as Ablett to North. His 30 disposals last week against Carlton gave his side the inspiration to destroy the Blues and end their finals' hopes.
Could this match be the first of three encounters between these two teams in the next six weeks? What tactics will Mark Thompson and Dean Laidley use?
