Round 21 Preview: Brisbane vs Carlton
August 22nd 2008 01:43
This match was meant to be a direct encounter as to who would make the Finals in 2008. Brisbane upheld their side of the bargain by beating the Western Bulldogs at home, but the Blues failed against North Melbourne.
Carlton are seen as being too far out to make the top eight, but can directly influence it against the Lions.
Brendan Fevola has urged the crowd to run on the ground if and when he kicks his ton, even though the AFL has stated for fans not to employ this. Will they stop an age-old tradition that has gone on since the 60s, or will they stop?
The Lions haven't won too many games in the last two months, but defeating the third-placed Bulldogs will surely have given them a confidence boost. And discovering a new outlet to goal in Rhan Hooper is a bonus, as Jonathan Brown and Daniel Bradshaw were kept quieter than usual.
Nigel Lappin's retirement is sure to spur the Lions to victory, as he has been crippled by injuries for this season.
Which way will it go? Who will win?
