Here's what happened yesterday in the three AFL matches played across the bredth of this continent we call Australia.
Brisbane def. Melbourne by 52 points.
In what was considered the biggest mismatch of the round, Brisbane did not disappoint against the hapless Demons, demolishing them to the tune of 52 points.
The Lions set up the win with a seven-goal second quarter - three goals to Hooper -
whilst restricting the Dees to only three for the term.
Daniel Bradshaw put his hand up to be considered a genuine threat to win this year's Coleman Medal, as the big forward kicked six goals, as his team-mate and fellow forward, Johnathan Brown, failed to hit is straps, booting only two.
Kangaroos drew with Sydney 64 points each.
A very scrappy affair at the Telstra Dome saw the Kangaroos squander a 16-point lead early in the last term to draw with the Swans.
The football never really entered the teams' 50-metre arch without it being cleared by the opposition moments later, and this showed on the scoreboard. Both teams' defences were on top, but Nathan Thompson and Michael O'Loughlin were the stand-out forwards for the match.
In the end, nobody knew whether to celebrate the two hard-fought points, in the spirit of the ANZACs, or whether to cry after having lost two points.
Hawthorn def. Richmond by 13 points.
Hawthorn recorded it's sixth straight win as it defeated Richmond in the twilight match of the round.
Some innacurate kicking by the Hawks, and persistant Tigers outfit, saw the match remain close to the finish. Lance Franklin, 1.7, Mark Williams, 2.3 and Jarrad Roughead, 5.3, all had the yips in front of goal.
But it was Luke Hodge (31 possessions) and Shane Crawford (25) who stood out for the Hawks, putting on a stellar performance, to see their side continue their brilliant start to the season.
