Carlton def. Fremantle by nine points.
Carlton has come back after being down at three-quarter time to defeat the Fremantle Dockers by nine points at Telstra Dome.
Led by an inspirational Aaron Bentick (31 possessions) and Nick Stevens (28), the Blues turned it on in the last stanza with three goals to the Dckers one, after both teams had been goal-for-goal throughout the whole match.
Brendan Fevola was kept quiet all game, only kicking one goal - a miraculous one which may be a contender for Goal of the Year - as Freo knew that if the imposing forward could be shut down, they would have a chance.
His opposite number in Matthew Pavilch kicked four for the visitors, and his parter-in -crime Chris Tarrant kicked three major. But it wasn't enough, as the Navy Blues hung on for the four points.
Sydney def. Port Adelaide by 11 points.
Who could have picked that Sydney would travel to Adelaide to face an in-form Port squad and walk away with all four points? But this is what the Swans managed to conjur up yesterday, in one of the matches of the season thus far.
A traditional shootout began as both teams kicked 14.2 goals in the opening quarter, with Sydney up by 12 points at the end of the first term.
When Daniel Motlop slotted his second goal through for the home side and give them the lead, a come-from-behind victory looked ominous.
But Swan Tim Schmidt marked and goal with only a few minutes remaining on the clock. Jarrad McVeigh put the icing on the red and white cake with a goal to extend the margin back out to 11 points.
For Port, Dominic Cassisi got 27 touches and Stephen Salopek continued his career-best form with 26. Brett Ebert was the star up forward, kicking 6 majors for the Power. Another Brett, in Kirk, had 31 possessions for the Swans, in a dominant performance.
West Coast def. Adelaide by 50 points.
West Coast has put to end its seven-game losing streak by defeating the Adelaide Crows by 50 points at Subiaco Oval.
The Eagles went back to playing some of the football that they were noted for only last season, and smothered the running players that the Crows have in their midst.
Andrew McLeod only had eight touches and influential forward Simon Goodwin was kept to 17 possessions. It was West Coast's more unknown players who dominated, with Matthew Rosa and Matthew Priddis getting 35 and 34 disposals respectively.
But for the Eagles, it was an even performance, and a return to the form they displayed throughout their dominance during 2005 and 2006.
The controversial interchange rule had its first victim, with Ryan Davis leaving the holding bay early, coming onto the field. Crow Ivan Maric had the ball at the time of infringement, and was given a chance to score the first major, which he slotted home.
But it was crowd favourite David Wirrpunda, playing in his 200th game, who cancelled out Maric's effort, and was chaired out of th ground once the match was over.
Richmond def. Essendon by 38 points.
Richmond had secured its third victory of the season by beating the Bombers by 38 points at the traditional Dreamtime at the 'G match.
The Tigers came into the match as favourites, and did not disappoint the experts. The were not only dominanting, but crushing their oppsition all over the ground. The yellow and black were up by nine goals going into the long break, with Essendon only managing to score 2.6 in a half of footy.
But what Coach Matthew Knights said at half-time worked, as his side came out firing in the third term. It became another match, as the Bombers kicked six goals to Richmond's two. An exciting final quarter loomed for Bombers fans, whilst Tigers' supporters were on the edge of their seats.
But it wasn't to be, as Richmond kicked two goals more to see them take home the four points.
Nathan Foley has 32 possesions whilst Brett Deledio had 29. Nathan Brown kicked three majors whilst Shane Edwards was the dominant forward with three goals himself, and gave away several others to teammates.
