R18 Preview: Essendon vs Melbourne
August 1st 2008 00:51
In a repeat of the 2000 Grand Final, Essendon will also be going into this match as favourites, as they were eight years ago in the big one.
Melbourne have shown that they are not as bad as the ladder suggests, having put up a spirited effort against the Kangaroos last week. With loads of new faces and young talent, there are a lot of positives to come out of season 2008 for Demons' supporters.
As for the Dons, they have been in sensational form in the last six weeks, only losing once to Richmond in that time. Defeating West Coast, Fremantle, Brisbane, North Melbourne, Carlton and Collingwood has seen the Bombers fly up the ladder, and contest for a Finals berth.
Will the lose in a match that they are expected to win? Or will they grind their opponent into the ground like they did against their traditional rivals Collingwood last week? Can they make the eight, considering many people were tipping them to sit in the bottom-four at seaon's end?
