R16 Preview: Richmond vs Essendon
July 17th 2008 06:34
It was only a month ago that both teams held extremely slim hopes of making this year's Finals series. Now, both teams go into this weekend's clash with strong chances of September glory.
The Bombers are on a four-game winning streak, and are flying. Their youngsters are standing up, and the team is playing some attractive football. They will miss Andrew Lovett and Mark McVeigh, but will look to Leroy Jetta to once-again kick some much-needed goals.
The Tigers will welcome back Will Thursfield to their defence, who will take either Matthew Lloyd or Scott Lucas, but will still miss Matthew Richardson.
How will the young Richmond forward line of Cleve Hughes, Mitch Morton and Jack Riewoldt all perform? Can they kick a bagful like they have done in recent weeks, or will they be kept quiet?
Will Andrew Welsh shut down Nathan Foley, like he has done against Chris Judd, Simon Black and Sam Mitchell?
