R16 Preview: Carlton vs Sydney
July 18th 2008 09:54
Both teams will want to win this week's match, as it will help to strengthen their September chances.
The Swans have lost their last two matches against Collingwood and Hawthorn, and have allowed the former team to catch up to them. They now sit only two points from fourth, and are hungry for the double chance.
The Blues want to keep their finals aspirations alive, and will want results to go their way. But they must also keep their end of the bargain. Being only a game out, they will need the Saints and the Kangaroos to drop points, and for them to beat the harbour side.
A lot will ride on both Adam Goodes and Chris Judd, and how they play. Whoever lights up the Telstra Dome on Sunday will go a long way in winning the match for their team.
How will the Swans shape up against Brendan Fevola, knowing that Carlton go to him at any chance? Can the Blues use other ways to goal, so to give Fev a chance to kick a bag?
How will the Swans go without Hall, and Amon Buchanan, who was suspended for the next few weeks?
