Carlton def Richmond by 30 points.

Carlton has come out and spoilt Richmond's 100-year celebrations by defeating them by five goals.

Trailing by a point going into three-quarter time, the Blues piled on 7.4 to the Tiger's 2.4, to see them over the line.

The match started with some inaccurate kicking in front of goal, with both teams scoring nine behinds before Simon Wiggins kicked truly for the Blues. The rest of the match saw the lead change 13 times, before a Chris Judd-less Carlton kicked away to secure the four points.

Nick Stevens controlled the midfield in the absence of Judd, with 27 possessions, ten tackles and a goal. He was supported by Andrew Carrazzo, with 29 touches. Superstar forward Brendan Fevola ended up kicking four goals and former No.1 draft pick Bryce Gibbs, three.


For RIchmond, Joel Bowden racked up 32 possessions and Brett Deledio 30. Newly-discovered goalkicking duo Cleave Hughes and Mitch Morton kicked three each. Troy Simmonds had 26 hitouts against Carlton's Cameron Cloke.

St. Kilda def North Melbourne by 15 points.

St. Kilda has come back from 16 points down at three-quarter time to snatch victory away from North Melbourne by 15 points at Carrara Stadium.

North looked the better side for the first half, dominating the Saints by as much as 33 points midway through the second quarter.

But the Saints rallied, led by their captain Nick Riewoldt (24 disposals, one goal) and Justin Koschitzke (19 disposals, two goals) and managed to get themselves back into the game, and take away the four points.

Stephen Milne had a successful return to the side with four goals, and Nick Dal Santo with 21 touches and four tackles. Both were publicly dropped against the Dockers for having poor form going into the match.


For North, Adam Simpson had another classy performance, with 32 possessions. Brent Harvey continued on in typical fashion, with 29 disposals and a goal. Matthew Campbell kicked three goals for the 'home' side.

Western Bulldogs def Port Adelaide by 54 points.

The Western Bulldogs have extended their winning streak to five after they defeated Port Adelaide by 54 points in Darwin.

The victory was set up with an eight-goal second quarter, kicking away from the Power, and noit letting them catch up at any stage.

Jason Akermanis was sensational with four goals and 19 touches. Daniel Cross got the ball 34 times, and Adam Cooney finished with 33. Brad Johnson and Scott Welsh kick three majors as well.

For Port, Kane Cornes amassed 41 possessions, supported by Shaun Burgoyne with 26 in a sour night for Port fans.
