R14 Preview: Melbourne vs Brisbane
June 26th 2008 10:03
This match will be the first time that both teams have met in the Southern state in nine years, after the Demons have been selling 'home' games against the Lions at the GABBA in order to raise more revenue.
Form-wise, Melbourne might be sitting on the bottom of the ladder, but are showing some good form in their matches. Having pushed Hawthorn, Geelong and Collingwood to within three goals, Brisbane may have their hands full on Sunday.
Having discovered youngsters Matthew Bate and Austin Wonaeamirri as future stars of the club, Melbourne is going in the right direction on improving their club, both on and off the field.
Brisbane has only lost one game in six weeks - and that was against the Western Bulldogs in Melbourne two weeks ago. Daniel Bradshaw and Jonathan Brown will provide two big headaches for the Melbourne defence, as will Luke Power.
He racked up 40 possessions last week in his side's victory over Adelaide. Jared Brennan had 31 and can kick for goal, adding a third target up front for the Lions.
Winning this match for the Lions could almost secure their place in the final eight. Where they eventually finish will be up to them, and how results go.
