R14 Preview: Fremantle vs Essendon
June 26th 2008 10:22
Even though both teams cannot make it into the top eight in season 2008, they have been playing some attractive football, signalling some positive signs for 2009.
Fremantle went into a match in Melbourne as favourites, but were just beaten by a Nick Riewoldt goal in the final minutes of their clash. Matthew Pavlich and Chris Tarrant have been playing well together, and have discovered how to gel.
Essendon have managed to string two consecutive victories for the first time this season. Since Scott Lucas' return three weeks ago from a crippling knee injury, his side has just lost to Adelaide, whilst defeating West Coast and archenemy's Carlton last week.
Matthew Knights' youngsters are not only gaining valubale experience, but are putting in solid performances, making Bomber supporters happy about their club's future.
It will be interesting to see how the in-form ruckmen of the competition compete against one another. Freo's Aaron Sandilands will lock horns with David Hille, and an intriging battle will ensue.
