R11 Preview: West Coast vs Sydney
June 6th 2008 06:55
The 2005 and 2006 Grand Finallists come into this match with different form. The Eagles can barely win a match, and were demolished at the hands of Collingwood by 100 points last week. Sydney can barely lose, having won in Adelaide against Port two weeks ago, and belting Richmond at the SCG.
When the two teams met in Round Four, forward Barry Hall dominated the headlines with his king-hit on opponent Brent Staker. The punch connected, and concussed Staker. Hall was subsequently suspended for seven games, and is due to come back next week for the Swans against the Saints. The Eagles were criticised for not sticking up for Staker, and will want to prove a point on the scoreboard, not using their fists.
Without Hall, the Swans have looked towards Michael O'Loughlin, Adam Goodes and their smaller, lesser-name forwards to kick them a high score.
Can they turn on their magic and do the same on the expansive Subiaco Oval? Will the West Coast set out to turn Subi back into the inpenetrable fortress it once was considered only last year?
