R11 Preview: Brisbane vs Fremantle
June 6th 2008 07:27
The form of both teams could not be more contrasting. Fremantle can barely win a final quarter, losing their las five matches after leading at three-quarter time. They are struggling to put the score on the board in the last, and their oppositions are walking all over them to victory.
Brisbane has won their last three matches, largely thanks to dominating performances by forwards Jonathan Brown and Daniel Bradshaw. A question mark now goes over Brown's head, after he hyper-extended his knee in a marking contest in the third quarter against North Melbourne, and will be given until the last minute to come up for the game.
Having never won at the GABBA, the Dockers will want to put in a good performance and end their seven-game losing streak, dating back to Round Three. The match will be determined in the middle, and up forward.
Simon Black now has two helpers in the centre with Travis Johnstone and Luke Power able to get the ball out and pump it forward to Brown and Bradshaw. Jamie Charman will be facing Aaron Sandilands in the ruck, and will look to stop the in-form ruckman in the competition.
Josh Carr will be manning up on Black, and will look to kick the ball to Matthew Pavlich and Chris Tarrant, hoping they kick some majors. Rhys Palmer will look to impress, given his tag as the favourite for the NAB Rising Star Award.
