R10 Preview: Adelaide vs Essendon
May 29th 2008 10:22
What looks loke a mismatch based on paper and where both clibs sit on the ladder, this one could provide an upset, or at worst, a spirited effort on the Bombers part.
With Scott Lucas returning for Essendon after knee problems which saw him sidelined in Round One, he will become another focal point up forward. Matthew Lloyd will welcome another presence to help him kick some much-needed goals for the black and red.
Also, the Bombers do not want to lose seven-in-a-row. Whilst they came back in the second half against Richmond last week, they played their worst game of the season, only scoring 2.6 in the first half.
On the other hand, Adelaide will want to regroup and refocus after losing to West Coast at Subiaco by 50 points. Even though Ivan Maric was the first ever player to score from the newly-implemented interchange infringement rule, his effort was not enough, as all of the Crows ball magnets were shut down.
Simon Goodwin had 17 touches, whilst Andrew McLeod only had eight. So a return-to-form is required for the both of them. And in front of a home crowd, the Crows have to perform to remain in the top eight.
