Preliminary Final 1: Geelong vs Western Bulldogs
September 18th 2008 09:13
The Cats meet the Dogs in the first Preliminary Final to decide who will play in the Grand Final.
Geelong is only one game away from playing in its second Grand Final in as many years, and is hungry to be there. Having had the week off will mean that its players are fresh and raring to go.
But there is an injury cloud over Paul Chapman, who has not recovered from the Cats' last match with St. Kilda. He will have his hamstring tested on Friday, and given until the last minute to be passed fit by the medicos.
The Dogs proved that they deserved a double chance after dismantling Sydney last week by five goals. They found some of that much-loved run through the midfield, and shut down the Swans' key playmankers.
How will the forward line cope against Geelong's strong defensive line? They were exposed only a fortnight ago against Hawthorn, when they really lacked a tall offensive player to take a mark.
Do the Doggies have to rely on Jason Akermanis to kick them a winning score? Where will they begin to stop the Cat juggernaut from rolling on?
Did the week off do more harm than good to Geelong?
