Kerr cops three weeks
April 29th 2008 00:20
As reported yesterday, West Coast Daniel Kerr has recieved a three-week ban for his headbutt against Western Bulldogs player Scott West during their clash on Saturday night.
The star midfielder will miss the long-awaited return of former teammate Chris Judd to Perth, and matches against the Kangaroos and Adelaide.
The AFL Tribunal adjudicated Kerr's hit on West as being intentional conduct with medium impact, drawing 325 demerit points and a three-match sanction.
Due to his already poor record at the tribunal, a forty per cent loading was also put on top of his points, as well as his 46 points that had carried over from a previous altercation, means that Kerr could in effect be suspended for a total of five matches, if he does not accept an early guilty plea.
Fremantle Docker Josh Carr did not fare well either. He was handed a two-week ban for kneeing Gary Ablett Jr on Friday night, but because of a poor record, like Kerr, it went up to three matches.
If Carr does not take the early guilty plea, he will face four games on the sideline due to demerit points accrued from previous incidents.
